In new work with David Reinecke I am examining the funding of large scale scientific and technical projects under periods of scientific uncertainty. We have undertaken a historical analysis of budgets for spacecraft systems from the 1960's to the present, as well as ethnographic work I conducted with a mission in development to understand what scientists do to combat problems with funding in the wake of historical crisis. This project has been funded by the National Science Foundation. Watch this space for publications, currently under development.
